Research Impact Event

Research Impact Event

INTRODUCTION

If scientific research wants to be an answer to the rapid social and technological developments in the Horticulture & Starting Materials sector, then that research must actually have IMPACT. Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials is organizing a theme afternoon on IMPACT on 10 December 2019 in collaboration with AESIS Network, at the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk (The Netherlands).

Experts from inside and outside the Netherlands inform and inspire the guests about the importance of social impact within the Horticulture & Starting Materials sector. We are looking for the most effective approach to demonstrating and stimulating the social impact of scientific research. An important part of the afternoon is the presentation of the Topsector Horticulture & Starting Materials Impact Award to the researcher who has achieved the most social impact.

“I’m sometimes shocked by the way scientists huddle behind closed doors to discuss important research results without informing the public about them at all. Academic caution is often preferable to premature publication, but fear can also destroy opportunities.”

– Giulia Enders
